Hard at Work

Sorry Tiff! I'll try to get some more pics of me. Haha I'm just been lazy with taking pictures lately. Too tourist-like I guess. Here's the closet thing I have:

Locks, Movies and Minis

The hacksaw and chopped up lock. Sad.

My new lock, which has 3 keys AND you can't lock it without having the key in it first. Brilliant!

Thought I'd let you see the movie theater in our tiny apartment. Huge projector screen, surround sound. Ya know, the works. And yea I watch my snowboard movies in Hawaii...it doesn't mean I don't love surfing and living here. Means nothing.

Sam's Mini, Billy. I like to drive it, drive it! I want.

Going to the beach now and work later! Love you all!

Bad Luck

So I thought my luck was beginning to change...especially when I narrowly avoided a parking ticket on North Shore. I had found a parking spot where a lot of cars were but it said no parking. I figured I'd park anyway cuz I was sick of driving. Well, we decided to leave and as we were walking up a cop was coming down and said that if we were parked here, we needed to move. We left and flipped around and saw a few cars getting tickets! Lucked out of that one for sure.

But...Matt and I went to the beach the other day and just locked our bikes together around a tree. We laid on the beach for awhile and when we got ready to go...I couldn't find my key to my lock. Awesome. Sam and I looked all over the house and no luck. I think it may have fallen out while we were at North Shore. So I bought a hacksaw and Sam helped us saw through it. A bunch of people were walking by asking if we were stealing them. We just smiled and Sam was like, YEP! Needless to say, I need a new bike lock and I think I should get a key chain (since I also lost my house key...and have since recovered it from my roommate who thought it was his).

One Month

As of Saturday, I have been in Hawaii for exactly a month. I finally have a tan (I was in the sun for 2 hours without sunscreen or a burn!), a few friends and jobs! I got the swim lesson job and hope to find more people to add to the lessons list! And of course, I've been working at Fro-Yo (which is delicious...trust me, I eat a lot of it!) I still have a little over a month left here which is good because I love it! It's going to be hard to leave and go back to the normal, everyday life of school and work in Utah for me. BUT...I am excited for: football season(!), a new house/roommates, snowboarding (of course!), and being done with school in less than a year! And to be back with lots of family and friends!

I went up to North Shore today. Haven't been up there yet and after a month of being in the same little section of a little island, it was definitely nice to get away and be in the country. When/if I move back, I know for a fact after living in the city now, that I want to live up there. So chill and quiet...plus good surf in winter! But I went to Waimea, ate at Shark's Cove Grill and played on the rocks at Sharks Cove. Oh and then got shave ice with ice cream in the bottom...mmmmmmm.

$$$

I just had a second interview at Starbucks...so maybe they like me! We'll see in the next few days if I get another call from them! I also just found someone who needs private swim lessons for their kids! Definitely qualified for that one so hopefully they still need someone! It pays bomb too! $20/hour for 3 or 4 days a week! Wish me luck!

Work and Surfing

This is Fro-Yo, the frozen yogurt place I work at. It's way cool! I watch movies and eat all day! I didn't get the photo job I wanted, but I'm applying at Starbucks, a local smoothie place and a surf shop today. Cross your fingers!

Nightscape of Waikiki. For some reason I always seem to ride my bike here I guess. Good spot for pictures and fun place to ride through because it's right on the water.

I have bruised hips from surfing because I'm too skinny and I bruise like a peach. My stomach looks white but you should see the tan lines on the back. I'll have to get a pic of that and of me surfing soon! I'd rather surf and get tan then having to lay out! BORING!

Cruising

Waikiki in the back.

Crazy man. His gloves have spikes...and he was conducting the waves while listening to the radio.

My face.

Ominous clouds over Waikiki.

Waves hitting the break wall. Took me awhile to get a good one. :)

Sunset and Bikes

A sunset on Ala Moana beach. It's like 5 minutes from the apartment. I usually spend my days here.

The paddle boarders at Ala Moana. I've been surfing! No pics of that yet though. Kinda hard.

My $25 beach cruiser!

The cruiser with a new paint job! Sassy!

Sushi and Tourists

We made a ton of sushi one of the first nights I was here. Noa taught me how to make and roll musubi, california rolls and spicy ahi. And I'm now a pro sushi chef seeing as how I also made them on my own the other day. So delicious!
Musubi. (Spam, rice and seaweed)

California rolls. Pretty.

The feast.

We also had a barbecue at one of Sam's friend's house. It's on the mountain with a great view of Diamond Head. Got to watch the sunset from there!
Diamond Head.

Sam showing off the wires.

I call this one 'Sunset by Flame'.

Apartment Tour

So here's a little tour of Sam's apartment where I'm staying for the summer. It's small but way nice. We don't even have A/C, but it stays nice and cool with the 80 degree temps and sea breeze. Plus, we keep the fans on and the windows open.

The living room. I sleep on the couch usually.

Kitchen. Mmmmm....food.

Bathroom. Sweet shower eh?

The front yard foliage.

Pile o' shoes and patio.

Laundry and surfboards!

St. George and Vegas

Hi everybody! I made this so you can see all the stuff I've been up to! Because I know you miss me! ;)

I got my first taste of Utah In&Out after I rode the sketch greyhound to Jodi's house. We went swimming at the hotel, ate burgers and went shopping. And we also went wakeboarding for a day! I was glad to get one day in before I left! Then Jodi took me to the Vegas airport where we both got a little panicked in the gusts of wind and insane traffic. But I made the flight...and my bag made it too!
